I Prevail - Blank Space (Taylor Swift Cover) - Punk Goes Pop Vol. 6

The music video I chose to analyze is I Prevail 's cover of Taylor Swifts "Blank Space", which was part of an album series called Punk Goes Pop. This video is strictly performative, which means it only focuses on the performers playing the song. The video uses color, tone, light, and rhythm to portray the style the artist wanted and stayed very consistent throughout the video with no changes that I noticed. The camera does have some minor movement, but stays mostly static focusing on the singer and the "screamer", but does flash to the drummer and two guitarist. The video definitely does not follow the story in the song, and I don't think it reinterprets the song either. I couldn't really pick out a part of the video that is significant, but the whole video is shot at a close-up view.

Introduction

My name is Darien Mattix. I am 19 years old and currently a sophomore at IU- South Bend. My major is in New Media with a concentration in graphic design. My interests include drumming, pottery, audio technology, and photography. Right now my favorite TV show is Wilfred and my favorite movies are The Hobbit/Lord Of The Ring trilogies. My ultimate goal after graduation would be to help local artists/musicians create logos, merchandise, or album covers. I grew up in the local music scene, my parents owned a couple different music venues, and would really like to give back to that part of the community.
